patch at IIID

At the IIID Design Excellence Awards Zonal Level 2018 our design for Tata Cha café’s received a commendation under the Leisure and Entertainment category. This meant we were shortlisted to compete with other Zonal level award winners of the same category in an open jury for the National level awards. This jury was held at Kochi, to coincide with the ongoing Kochi Biennale.
Patch team represented by Ipsit Patel and Shruti Gaonkar, presented to the esteemed jury panel the design concept of the various Tata Cha outlets, with special focus on the Indiranagar flagship store. The esteemed jury was lead by Dean D’ Cruz and comprised of Chandrashekhar Kanetkar, Hirante Walwade, Sandhya Mohandas and Soumitro Ghosh.

IIID Awards finale at Kochi, Kerala, India.

The jury day was followed by the IIID National awards night, where Tata Cha received a commendation award.

The jury’s comments were: The challenge of branding the street side tea stall to a corporate enterprise is not an easy one. The project is more successful in its interpretation with its gestures outside and milder in its interpretation of the line of and level of enclosure, diverse patterns of flooring and perhaps the furniture – all moving away from ordinariness that is familial of the local tea stall. The design showed good use of graphics and colors. The overall ambience is well thought out with enough hints of well-designed elements.
